The State of Qatar has begun a pilot project to store grid-scale power using a 1MW/4MWh lithium-ion energy storage system— a first for the state that relies completely on power from gas and oil.

[pdf] • • • • China has completed the Fengning Pumped Storage Power Station in Hebei province, now the largest facility of its kind globally. The plant, which has a total installed capacity of 3.6GW, is operated by the State Grid Corporation of China (SGCC).

The Tarnița–Lăpuștești Hydropower Plant is a proposed hydroelectric pumped-storage project on the Someșul Cald River in Cluj County, Romania. If built it would be the largest hydro-electric load balancing system in Romania.
